The 2005 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race Ingo's Recap
Hey All,
I thought I'd give everyone a run down of the race yesterday since it won't be on TV for another 3 weeks.
After qualifying in Pole position on friday with the fastest over all lap time (including the pros) and winning People Mags $15,000 to my favorite charity which is split 3 ways between Greenpeace/River Keeper/Heal the Bay, the pressure was on for the race. The race started and everyone was gunning for me. checking my mirrors a little to much going into turn 1 cause the effect. I hit the tire wall sideways, Hard. My car was wrecked. All 14 celeb. drivers went by me. I sat there for a second thinking about what just happened. I blew it. I was faster in the celb division by 2 seconds a lap, why did I care so much about Patrick Dempsy who faked a move up the inside on turn 1 first lap.
I should have let him go. Would my car start again. It did. Is it drive-able. It took me a lap to get my head around that part, the car was fine, how could that be , I hit so hard. Reese Millen a pro driver was on my tale at that point. The 4 pro cars started 30 seconds behind the celebs. Reese was running the same lap time I was so I let him by, I still wasn't sure if my car was ok or not. I decided to have some fun put my head down and follow Reese through the back markers.
Meat Loaf was first, then Carl Malone etc. I overtook every chance I had working my way through the field. To my surprise I passed Patrick Dempsy on lap 5 I think. I thought for the first time that I was back in the race at least. i passed more people and I saw the Silver car of Frankie Munes in the distance. I thought, is he in first? I reeled him in after a couple more laps only to see that Olympian Arron Piersol was way ahead of me. So far ahead with only 3 laps to go. On the last lap I got close enough to make a pass with 3 turns to go.
I'm in second now having overtook 13 drivers after crashing I couldn't believe it. I was fixed on Arron braking late into turn 9 after the back straight, this was my chance to regain the lead and win the race.
I saw Arron lock up the brakes and smoke the tires, it broke my attention and I over shot the turn crashing into the tire wall really hard next to Arron.
Now im in 1st place sitting in the tire wall with my hood buckled and to my surprise the car started again, I reversed out and put it into gear to drive to my Victory, only to put the car in 3rd gear and stalling. A few more seconds go by and I get the car started again and rolling in first gear, but not soon enough, Franky went by and I ended up 2nd and Aaron 3rd in the Celb devision.
got to nurse my broken ego and whiplash now
later Ingo
sorry about bad english etc. but my heads killing me

In addition to McDonald, the professional drivers competing for the checkered flag are:

``The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race draws some of the most competitive celebrity and professional drivers because it offers the high-speed challenge of real racing, combined with a worthwhile charitable endeavor,'' said Les Unger, Toyota's national motorsports manager. ``Last year's race was down to the wire and this year's race is sure to provide more of the same for fans.''
Also racing in this year's event is Mike Sullivan, dealer principal for both Toyota of Santa Monica and Toyota of Hollywood.
Toyota will raise more than $100,000 for ``Racing for Kids,'' a non-profit program benefiting children's hospitals in Long Beach, Calif. and Orange County. Toyota will donate $5,000 to ``Racing for Kids'' in the name of each celebrity racer, and another $5,000 to the winning racer's charity of choice.
Finally, a $15,000 donation is made in conjunction with the eighth annual ``PEOPLE Pole Award.'' Sponsored by PEOPLE magazine, the award honors the pole-position winner of the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race qualifying session on Friday, April 8. In the past 14 years, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race has generated more than $1.2 million for children's hospitals in Southern California.

He talks about how in the beginning he only went after Courtney, because of Sonny, but, now he has really fallen for her."

March 2 episode.
The slides will change automatically every ten seconds; but if you wish, you can just click on one on the left side of the screen. Thank you for allowing us to use these, Lori!
Both shows were wonderful in every way, and we got to see Ingo much more in the second one. The camera work on Ingo was excellent which made all of us happy. As always, he did more in a few minutes than many could do in an hour. The ATJ cast was so enjoyable, too. Everyone interacted so well, and Ingo is so at home on primetime! Enjoy the slideshow!
Visit the Campaign section and see what it has to say about Ingo's Accoridng to Jim appearances. We have already called the Comment Lines and sent in postcards saying how much we enjoyed both episodes.
Ebay auctioned off a autographed copy of the script of the episode starring Ingo.
While Ingo filmed the episode, a very lucky person had an Ingo encounter. See what happened.
Ingo Appeared on The Wayne Brady Show
Ingo taped an episode of the Wayne Brady Show on February 5. It aired at various times around the country, and we all agree Ingo was wonderful. His humor was priceless, and he made sure we will always remember banana nut muffins.
Several angels were lucky enough to attend the taping,
and newcomer Joanne was called on stage by Wayne Brady and fed a muffin
by Ingo.
Thanks to Lori for providing the snappy of Ingo and Joanne. | |
