Ingo Rademacher, best known as Jasper
Jacks "Jax" on ABC's General Hospital, can be described
as a true "renaissance man." Ingo has diverse interests
and expertise in many areas. He is articulate, charming and approachable. These
attributes coupled with a natural charisma and honest-to-goodness Australian
accent, send hearts pounding across the globe. Ingo's life reads
like a novel due to his unusual and diversified background and upbringing. He
is regal, yet humble - true class.
Growing Up
Ingo was born on April 22, 1971, in the small village of Iserlohn-Letmathe,
West Germany to two devout, loving parents. There, he enjoyed a happy
childhood and was encouraged to become a free thinker. His parents were
ambitious and adventurous - teaching him that life has unlimited possibilities.
He developed a love for outdoor
activities and, at age 8, was a ski champion.

Next, the family including a sister, Anne, moved to a 400-acre
ranch in Australia. Ingo had a normal childhood and did such things
as help chicks hatch from their eggs and assist a baby goat as it
entered the world. Later, he would even attempt CPR on the
goat when it was in distress. At age 10, Ingo was already an equestrian
and excelled in dressage and jumping. He would continue developing
his equestrian skills for years. During high school, he
played rugby and sang lead in a rock band, competing in "The
Battle of the Bands."
After graduating from high school, Ingo attended college and
a new chapter in his life began. He entertained the idea of going
into hotel management, and worked as a handyman at a hotel. Yet another
life was beckoning. Ingo played professional beach volleyball and
began working with a modeling agency - a move that would forever
change the course of his life. He landed the role of Sean Hayden,
one of the lead characters on Paradise Beach, a popular prime
time series in Australia. There he showed his athletic ability as
a surfer.
Ingo continued to be very athletic and trained to compete in
Ironman Triathlon competitions, perfecting his running, swimming,
and biking abilities to the fullest. During this time, he became
a certified lifeguard, a massage therapist, and even studied Japanese. In
addition, he raced motorbikes (sponsored by Honda) and sailboats.
Go
West Young Man
After his two-year stint on Paradise Beach, a new life began
for Ingo. He came to the United States in 1994 and, in January 1996,
Ingo joined General Hospital as Jasper (Jax) Jacks, a member
of a family of corporate raiders wealthy beyond measure. Initially,
his purpose on General Hospital was to be the rich playboy
that would come between popular lovebirds, Ned and Lois. Prior
to his debut on GH, he received publicity on Entertainment
Tonight and fans were expected to despise him. Instead,
Jax - the world traveler, corporate raider, intelligent-clever-successful
businessman - became the heart throb of General Hospital and
the world. Rather than breaking up Ned and Lois, Jax fell in love
with the impossible, impudent Brenda Barrett and gave her a life
of which one only dares to dream.
In less than a year, Ingo's popularity grew beyond belief.
- The July 1996 issue of Soap Opera Magazine named him one of
their 52 Most Beautiful People
- The February 1996 issue of Soap Opera Digest named him one
of daytime's hottest stars.
- The May 27, 1997 issue of Soap Opera Update named him one of
the 10 Overnight Sensations.
Through the intervening years, Jax has loved and lost and loved
again, but the one thing that has never changed is the audience's
love of Jax - and Ingo.
In 2000, hearts across the country were broken as fans learned Ingo
was leaving General Hospital. However, excitement grew
as he also announced his move to primetime. Hired by none other
than Aaron Spelling, Ingo joined the cast of Titans, Spelling's
latest foray into the night-time soap. Ingo graced our screen
as David O'Conner, a night club owner and recovering alcoholic. Sadly, Titans' run
was short-lived, but fans didn't have to go Ingo-less for long. We
wanted our Jax back and General Hospital and Ingo listened. Ingo
and fans have called General Hospital home ever since.
